This consistent follow through will help you build track record which then translate to trust and confidence....

While this is a great video and I agree with a lot of what you’ve said …..however I still can’t reconcile. How do you stop the people that are trying to burn it all down trying to burn the world down? - It’s fine to get yourself under control but when does enough become enough so that you can then concentrate on stopping the real people who are causing the real problems?

Hello all! Hope you’re having a beautiful day. I just wanted to say that The Sangha truly is the field of merit for the world, in more than one way. Yes, merit through sanghadana (alms giving to monks), but also through teachings such as these, we are granted insight into walking the path properly. The advice to change the mindset to one of kindness to oneself and others is the Buddha’s teaching of metta and karuna. “Try everything” is a reflection of the Buddha’s teaching to (paraphrasing) *test everything for oneself* in the Kalama Sutta. And “assess the situation correctly” holds the essence of “seeing reality as it is” that is really, the major reason behind Buddhist meditation. I love how Venerable Nick pulls directly from the suttas without explicitly stating that they are Buddhist teachings as EVERYONE can benefit from the Dhamma, and some people close their ears as soon as they hear something has a religious connection. Glad we are all here to hear this and spread it. Saddhu & thank you 🙏

Hello Venerable Nick, I am an old man and I have studied many self-help books, I’ve gone to therapists, and I’ve certainly made my share of unwise decisions and actions in my life. I have unintentionally ahurt people. In 2015 I discovered Buddhism and started to study the foreign Noble truths and the eightfold path or deeply. I’ve listened to many monks who have helped me on UA-cam. I have a personal friend who is a monk and a meditation teacher. Let’s just say I’ve lived a long life and have always pursued self improvement and a strong desire to help others with the pain in life. of course my biggest regret is that like all humans I’m also a hypocrite. But I never give up trying and even my children have seen great improvement over the past 10 years. I have severe ADD which back in my day people didn’t know about so I was disciplined in many harsh ways and rejected in many harsh ways. Of all the people I’ve listened to in my life I can tell you sincerely you have had the biggest impact. Why? Because you have had the same desire and pursued it and learned both the west and the east philosophies for mental health and emotional health. you combine the two with your wonderful talent the universe has given you for speech, for expressing yourself, for your empathy and compassion and the other great traits that you have. and I will know outside of these videos that you also struggle with your imperfections and pain in life. as I say many times and I hope you get the chance to read this, words can never express how deeply I am grateful for you and only two words sums it all up in a very imperfect way, on all your posts simply going to say these two words but please know there is a lot behind them: Thank you! 🙏🏻
